Vega Sicilia Tinto Valbuena 5º Ribera del Duero 2019
From the legendary Vega Sicilia estate in Ribera del Duero, Spain, the Tinto Valbuena 5º 2019 is a refined red crafted from 97% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 3% Merlot, sourced from 140 hectares of clay-limestone soils across 52 plots. Hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel, and aged five years (in oak barrels and bottle), it offers a garnet hue and exceptional elegance, reflecting the estate’s iconic status.
Winemaking Process
Vega Sicilia’s meticulous approach defines this wine. The 2019 vintage, from a drier year, saw gentle fermentation in stainless steel to preserve freshness, followed by aging in French and American oak barrels (new and used) and larger vats for two years, then bottle aging for three years. This five-year process, giving the wine its name, balances elegance and power with fine, silky tannins.
