From Vietti in Italy’s Langhe DOC, the Freisa Vivace 2022 is a refined 100% Freisa sourced from select vineyards in Castiglione Falletto on clay-limestone soils that impart vibrancy and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with a short maceration, followed by bottle refermentation for its vivace (lightly sparkling) character to enhance approachability and lift. This rare expression of the indigenous Freisa variety yields a ruby red wine with garnet edges and playful effervescence.
Tasting Notes An elegant, lively red with vibrant red fruit and subtle floral spice, reflecting Langhe’s limestone terroir. The nose reveals cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and hints of violet and pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, light bubbles, and flavors of red berries, licorice, and a touch of minerality, leading to a long, refreshing finish.
