This wine is produced by Domaine Delaporte in Sancerre, Loire, and is the red cuvée “Silex Rouge” from the 2021 vintage. It is made from Pinot Noir and is described by retailers as a serious, site-driven red drawn from siliceous soils, which help give the wine its mineral edge and firmer structure. The style is more concentrated and age-worthy than lighter Loire Pinot Noir, with barrel aging contributing additional texture and complexity.
Tasting Notes
Available notes describe a dark, ruby-toned wine with aromas of red fruit, black fruit, toasted notes, spice, and a mineral impression. On the palate it is round, smooth, and silky, with integrated tannins, good depth, and a long finish that can show caramel-like nuances.
Serving and Cellaring
Serve at about 15–16°C, slightly cool rather than warm. This wine can be enjoyed now for its texture and detail, but it should also continue to develop with short- to medium-term cellaring.
