Collection: Pulenta
History Pulenta Estate, located in Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina, was founded in 2002 by brothers Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta, fourth-generation members of a family with deep roots in Argentine viticulture. Their Italian ancestors emigrated to Argentina in 1902, establishing vineyards and contributing to the industry through enterprises like Peñaflor. The brothers established Pulenta Estate to produce limited-series, high-quality wines, drawing on over a century of family expertise while incorporating modern innovation. The estate features two key vineyards: Finca La Zulema in Agrelo and Viñedos Don Antonio in Los Árboles, Uco Valley.
Viticulture Philosophy Pulenta Estate manages 135 hectares planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris. The philosophy emphasizes sustainability and terroir expression, with practices aligned to organic principles and minimal environmental impact. Vineyards benefit from Mendoza's high-altitude microclimates, alluvial soils, and Andean influences, promoting balanced ripeness and elegance. The focus remains on crafting wines that reflect generosity toward the consumer, prioritizing quality through careful site selection and restrained yields.
Winemaking Techniques Winemaking at Pulenta Estate combines tradition with precision technology. Grapes undergo manual harvesting and rigorous selection, with fermentation in stainless steel or concrete for purity. Reds, such as the flagship Gran Corte (a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Tannat), age 18 months in French oak barrels, selecting only the finest for assemblage. Whites feature barrel fermentation where appropriate to enhance texture. The approach limits production to ensure concentration and finesse, resulting in structured yet approachable wines.
Critics and Journalist Praises Pulenta Estate wines consistently receive high acclaim for their elegance and balance. The Gran Corte series is celebrated as an Argentine icon, with vintages earning praise for seamless harmony and aging potential. Critics commend the estate's Malbec and Cabernet Franc for depth and refinement, while the portfolio overall is noted for exceptional value and quality, reflecting the family's pioneering legacy in Mendoza.
