Chiseled, Aristocratic, and Velvet-Sheathed Power

Crafted by the legendary Pulenta brothers—pioneers who shaped the modern landscape of high-altitude viticulture—this Estate flagship represents the absolute peak of Uco Valley nobility. Steering far clear of the over-extracted, jammy "fruit bombs" of yesteryear, the spectacular 2021 vintage handles a brilliant, long growing season with majestic coolness and structural restraint. It commands the glass with an elite bouquet of wild blackberries, fresh cassis, and white pepper, seamlessly integrated with a sophisticated layer of dark chocolate, eucalyptus, and crushed violets. It is a full-bodied, multi-dimensional red wine that wraps a dense fruit core in firm, exceptionally silky tannins and a persistent, gravelly finish.

Expert Tasting Notes & Estate Reputation

  • 96 Points – James Suckling: "By far the most interesting, complex yet intrinsically pristine red from Pulenta. Floral, violet and lavender character on top of the fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit, with herbs, stems and a touch of pepper. Medium- to full-bodied with silky, fresh tannins from the fruit, delivering fluidity in its intense fruit profile. Long, resolved and very honest. Already delicious, but will hold well."
  • The Architects of Alto Agrelo and Tunuyán: With more than three generations of viticultural royalty in their veins, brothers Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta established Pulenta Estate in 2002 with a singular mantra: "Making a great wine is a matter of work, but a grand wine is an art form." Their spectacular high-altitude vineyards in Los Árboles, Uco Valley sit at an elevated 1,200 meters above sea level. Fed by pure Andean snowmelt and rooted in cold, gravelly soils, the estate coaxes an uncompromised, structurally chiseled Malbec that mirrors the finesse, architectural alignment, and age-defying dignity of an elite Left Bank Bordeaux Grand Cru.

Highlights

  • 100% Malbec micro-selected from the estate's absolute finest low-yielding parcels in Los Árboles, Tunuyán, Valle de Uco.
  • Grown at an extreme high altitude of 1,200 meters on well-draining, rocky alluvial sands where cold alpine nights lock in intense natural acidity.
  • Matured with uncompromising precision for 18 months in brand-new French oak barrels, followed by extended bottle resting to ensure complete structural harmony.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Opaque, dense ink-violet with a brilliant, youthful ruby halo.
  • Nose: Aristocratic, layered, and deep, uncoiling with concentrated aromas of fresh cassis, crushed blackberry, and wild plum fruit, intricately interwoven with eucalyptus leaf, white pepper, dark chocolate flakes, woodsmoke, and a prominent bouquet of fresh violets.
  • Palate: Dry, full-bodied, and beautifully chiseled. An intense wave of pristine dark forest fruits charges across the entry, instantly elevated by a crisp, wonderfully linear vein of high-altitude acidity. The mid-palate has phenomenal density and vertical volume, heavily armored yet completely cushioned by firm, fine-grained, and velvety tannins before drawing into a long, persistent, and graphite-flecked finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at room temperature between 16–18°C. Keeping it slightly cool frames its dense fruit concentration and showcases the fresh balsamic eucalyptus elements perfectly.
  • Decanting: A minimum of 45-to-60 minutes of decanting is highly recommended to allow the youthful fruit layers and architectural wood tannins to cohere and expand. Built with magnificent structural balance to cellar gracefully over the next 12–15 years (2026–2041).
  • Western Pairing: Prime dry-aged ribeye steaks with truffle butter, roasted rack of lamb with rosemary, slow-braised beef short ribs, or rich venison stews.
  • Asian Pairing: 柱侯牛腩煲 (Braised Beef Brisket and Tendon Pot), 蔥爆羊肉 (Sautéed Lamb with Scallions), or 椒鹽排骨 (Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs).
