Fresh Strawberries, Violets, Subtle Spice, and High-Altitude Uco Valley Finesse

The 2024 Pulenta Estate Pinot Noir (Pulenta I / IX) is an elegant, vibrant red crafted by the Pulenta family in Mendoza's high-altitude Uco Valley. Grown in the cool reaches of Los Árboles, Tunuyán, it reveals fragrant aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries, rose petals, and delicate baking spice. Medium-bodied and silky, it balances succulent red fruit with fine, supple tannins and crisp Andean acidity, finishing clean, refreshing, and subtly mineral.

Terroir & Winemaking Craft

  • Finca Don Antonio in Los Árboles, Uco Valley: Sourced entirely from estate vineyards in Los Árboles, Tunuyán, situated at approximately 1,200 meters (nearly 4,000 feet) above sea level in the foothills of the Andes. The soils are alluvial and stony with sand, gravel, and limestone deposits, providing rapid drainage and forcing vines deep into the rock. The high elevation provides intense solar radiation combined with dramatic diurnal temperature swings that preserve high natural acidity and delicate aromatic nuances.
  • The Pulenta Family Heritage: Founded by brothers Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta—third-generation members of one of Argentina's most storied winemaking dynasties. Hand-harvested in small crates with strict double sorting, the grapes undergo gentle cold maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and concrete vats. Matured for roughly 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels with minimal new wood, the vinification is tuned for aromatic freshness and silky varietal transparency.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir from the high-elevation estate vineyard in Los Árboles, Tunuyán (Uco Valley).
  • Crafted at 1,200 meters altitude with gentle extraction and restrained French oak maturation.
  • A vibrant, perfumed 2024 vintage designed for immediate and mid-term enjoyment through 2030+.

Tasting Notes

Bright, translucent ruby with violet reflections, it opens with pure, fragrant aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries, and raspberries, interwoven with hints of fresh rose petals, orange zest, subtle black tea, and a touch of sweet clove spice. The palate is medium-bodied, supple, and lacy, delivering crunchy red berry fruit over smooth, fine-grained tannins and an invigorating spine of Andean mountain acidity, culminating in a clean, persistent, and delicately savory mineral finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve slightly chilled at 14–16°C in wide Burgundy stemware to let its delicate perfume expand.
  • Decanting: A brief 20-to-30 minute aeration in the glass is sufficient; decanting is not strictly necessary. Best enjoyed now through 2030+.
