(Wine Advocate Score 92) Delicate streaks of Mediterranean herbs and dried spices add nuance to the cherry fruit in Duval's 2016 Annexus Grenache. Aged a year in older hogsheads, the oak impact is minimal. It's a medium to full-bodied, suave expression of old-vine Barossa Grenache, with a slightly coarse, tannic feel that adds a savory edge to fruit that might otherwise be too confected. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Grenache was sourced from two very old, low yielding vineyards, 90% from an Eden Valley ancestor vineyard over 150 years old and 10% from bush vines in the Northern Barossa Valley.

The inspiration from the Barossa’s best old vine Grenache vineyards created Annexus, an addition to our Plexus blend. It is a small selection from our best old low yielding, Grenache Vineyards.

Fermentation occurred in a small open top fermenter incorporating a small number of whole bunches. 100% barrelmatured for 12 months, in older French oak hogsheads(300 litres).
