From Banshee Wines in California's Sonoma County, the Pinot Noir 2023 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from premium coastal vineyards in sub-appellations like Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap, Los Carneros, and Sonoma Valley, featuring diverse soils from gravelly loam to clay that impart vibrancy and balance. Hand-harvested grapes from the cool, even 2023 vintage—marked by moderate temperatures yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo destemming and cool fermentation in small stainless steel tanks for 21 days, followed by 8 months' aging in French oak barrels (25% new) to enhance structure without overpowering the fruit. Founded in 2009 with a focus on affordable luxury, this production yields a medium ruby wine with lively intensity and approachable elegance.

Tasting Notes An elegant, fruit-forward red with vibrant cherry and subtle earthy spice, reflecting Sonoma County's coastal terroir. The nose reveals layers of dark cherries, spices, blackberry bush, and violets, with hints of pomegranate and forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and poised, with firmly framed tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of dried herbs, graphite, plums, and red flowers, leading to a generous, bold finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2023 Pinot Noir earned 92 points from James Suckling for its generous boldness and layered complexity, and 90 points from Jeb Dunnuck for its bright, forward aromas.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with roasted poultry, mushroom dishes, or charcuterie. Enjoy now through 2033, developing greater earthy and silky nuances over time.
