From Baricci in Italy’s Montalcino, the Rosso di Montalcino 2021 is a refined 100% Sangiovese sourced from the renowned Montosoli hillside on the northeastern edge of the appellation, featuring calcareous-clay soils at 350 meters elevation that impart elegance and vibrancy. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2021 vintage—marked by cool nights and steady ripening yielding fresh acidity and concentrated fruit—undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by brief aging in large Slavonian oak casks to preserve purity and structure. Committed to traditional, sustainable practices since the 1960s, this production yields a ruby wine with garnet edges and approachable finesse.

Tasting Notes An elegant, savory red with dark fruit and mineral freshness, reflecting Montalcino's calcareous terroir. The nose reveals black cherry, cigar ash, wet stone, and hints of black licorice and graphite. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and poised, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of dark plum, spice, and subtle earthiness, leading to a long, slightly bitter-edged finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino earned 89 points from Wine Advocate for its easygoing aromatics and classic Montalcino expression.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled meats, pasta with tomato sauce, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2031, developing greater earthy and leather notes over time.
