Bodega Garzón Single Vineyard Albariño 2018
From the pioneering Bodega Garzón in Maldonado, Uruguay, the Single Vineyard Albariño 2018 is a refined white from a south-facing plot near Punta del Este. Crafted from 100% Albariño, sourced from granite and schist soils, it’s hand-harvested and fermented in cement tanks. Aged 80% in cement and 20% in untoasted French oak for 3–6 months, it offers a pale yellow hue with vibrant complexity.
Winemaking Process
Garzón’s sustainable approach defines this wine. The 2018 vintage undergoes gentle pressing and fermentation in cement tanks, with 20% aged on lees in untoasted French oak barrels for added complexity. No malolactic fermentation preserves natural acidity, creating a rich yet fresh Albariño with a mineral-driven profile and a textural finish, reflecting the Atlantic-influenced terroir.
Tasting Notes
A vibrant, complex white with tropical fruit and saline minerality, showcasing Uruguay’s coastal terroir.
The nose reveals peach, mango, and lemon zest, with hints of white flowers, nutmeg, and chalky minerality. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and refreshing, with bright acidity, layered fruit, and a long, saline finish with subtle spice.
