From Château Brane-Cantenac, a Second Growth estate in Bordeaux’s Margaux appellation, the Margaux de Brane 2020 is a refined second wine, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot support, sourced from younger vines on the estate's 75-hectare gravelly-clay and limestone plateau. The exceptional 2020 vintage, characterized by concentrated yet balanced fruit from a warm, dry growing season, saw hand-harvested grapes undergo strict sorting, fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, and 12 months' aging in French oak barrels to emphasize suppleness and accessibility. Sustainable viticulture and meticulous blending yield a deep ruby wine with vibrant purity and approachable elegance.
Tasting Notes An elegant, perfumed red with ripe blackcurrant and floral finesse, reflecting Margaux's gravelly terroir. The nose reveals roses, redcurrants, smoke, and subtle spice notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and silky, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and flavors of creamy red fruits and hints of licorice, leading to a refined, lingering finish.
Awards and Accolades The 2020 Margaux de Brane earned 92 points from James Suckling for its forward charm and supple texture.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 30 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with roasted lamb, charcuterie, or mushroom risotto. Enjoy now through 2030, developing added leather and earth notes over time.
