From Château La Tour de Mons in France’s Margaux appellation, the 2014 is a refined blend of 57% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc, sourced from 58 hectares of gravelly-clay and limestone soils in Le Pian-Médoc that impart structure and freshness. Hand-harvested grapes from the challenging yet structured 2014 vintage—characterized by a cool, wet summer followed by a warm September yielding concentrated yet vibrant fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 12-15 months' aging in French oak barrels (33% new) to enhance integration and finesse. Managed by the Bignon-Cordier family since 1999, this Cru Bourgeois yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and poised elegance.

Tasting Notes An elegant, structured red with ripe black fruit and refined graphite, reflecting Margaux's gravelly terroir. The nose reveals blackcurrant, cedar, violet, and hints of graphite and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and mineral earthiness, leading to a long, persistent finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2014 Château La Tour de Mons earned 92 points from James Suckling for its polished tannins and vibrant fruit.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled beef, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2030, developing greater leather and earthy nuances over time.
