From Château Le Gay in France's Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank, the 2014 is a refined blend dominated by Merlot with Cabernet Franc, sourced from 10.5 hectares of clay and gravel soils on the Pomerol plateau that impart plushness and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the challenging yet rewarding 2014 vintage—marked by a cool, wet summer followed by a warm September yielding concentrated yet vibrant fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by 18-20 months' aging in French oak barrels to enhance integration and finesse. Owned by the Parent family since 2013, this historic estate yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and profound harmony.

Tasting Notes A dense, opulent Pomerol with blackcurrant, blueberry, and truffle aromas, medium to full-bodied with ripe, velvety tannins, graphite, and floral nuances, building to a long, harmonious finish of smoked meats and minerals. The nose reveals blackcurrant, blueberry, and hints of truffle, graphite, and violets. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and poised, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and mineral earthiness, leading to a long, silky finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2014 Château Le Gay earned 94 points from James Suckling for its feminine violet nose, polished purple fruit, and dense, full-bodied palate with dancing acidity.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted lamb, game, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2034, developing greater leather and earthy nuances over time.
