From Château Talbot in Bordeaux’s Saint-Julien appellation, the Le Connétable Talbot 2019 is the refined second wine of this Fourth Growth estate, benefiting from the same meticulous vineyard care and increasingly stringent selections as the grand vin.
Hand-harvested grapes undergo vinification with attention to fruit preservation, followed by aging in oak barrels to contribute subtle complexity while maintaining an approachable, classic elegance.
Tasting Notes A classic, elegant second wine with sweet tobacco and currant aromas leading to berry and dark chocolate character, full-bodied with relatively soft tannins and a round, flavorful finish. The nose displays sweet tobacco, currant, berry, and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is full-bodied with soft tannins, balanced fruit, and a round texture.
Awards and Accolades The 2019 Le Connétable Talbot earned 92 points from James Suckling for its sweet tobacco and currant notes, full body, and round tannins.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled meats, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater earthy nuances over time.
