From Château Talbot in Bordeaux’s Saint-Julien appellation, the Le Connétable Talbot 2023 is the refined second wine of this Fourth Growth estate, benefiting from the same meticulous care as the grand vin but designed for earlier accessibility.
Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo rigorous selection, with vinification in temperature-controlled vats followed by aging in oak barrels to enhance finesse while preserving fruit purity and the estate's signature elegance.
Tasting Notes A classic, elegant second wine with clean, well-defined structure, offering ripe dark fruit, subtle oak influence, and a fresh, long finish. The nose displays blackberry, cassis, and hints of cedar and spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of dark cherry, licorice, and mineral earthiness, leading to a persistent finish.
Awards and Accolades Specific scores from well-known critics for the 2023 vintage are not yet widely available.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled beef, roasted poultry, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater earthy nuances over time.
