The 2022 David Moret Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Fuées" is an enchanting, perfumed Pinot Noir from one of the village's finest hillside climats bordering Bonnes-Mares. It displays alluring aromas of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, crushed violets, and sweet spices. Critical Recognition

James Suckling 94 pts
  • 94 Points - James Suckling: Initially a little smoky on the nose, with bark, clove, incense and dark-cherry aromas, it’s spicy and rich on the palate, with layers of ripe cherry fruit intertwined with spice and toast notes. The tannins are ripe and composed. Drinkable now, but better from 2026.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir sourced from "Les Fuées," a premier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru climat situated immediately adjacent to the Grand Cru of Bonnes-Mares.
  • Grown on steep, east-facing slopes of shallow, highly fractured Bathonian limestone and reddish clay, yielding wines of aromatic lift, fine structure, and mineral finesse.
  • Selected and aged by David Moret, the esteemed Côte de Beaune artisan micro-négociant applying his meticulous elevage and parcel-selection standards to select Côte de Nuits crus.
  • Matured for approximately 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels (around 30–35% new oak) to gently refine the tannins while preserving pure floral and red berry character.
  • From the warm, expressive 2022 Burgundy harvest; offering delightful immediate pleasure with the balance and tension to cellar gracefully through 2035+.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby-red with brilliant violet reflections, it opens with enchanting aromas of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and pomegranate, interwoven with crushed violets, dried rose petals, forest floor, and a dusting of baking spice. The palate is medium-bodied, silky, and seamless, coating the palate in pure red fruit supported by velvety, cashmere tannins and vibrant limestone freshness, finishing clean, persistent, and delicately savory.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 14–16°C in generous Burgundy or Pinot Noir stemware.
  • Decanting: Best enjoyed with 20 to 30 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its floral aromatics and subtle spices to blossom. Optimal drinking window now through 2035+.
