White Peach, Citrus Blossom, Crushed Limestone, and Genevrières Precision

The 2023 David Moret Meursault 1er Cru "Les Genevrières" is a dazzling, laser-focused Chardonnay from one of Meursault’s crown jewel climats. It bursts with refined aromas of crisp white peach, lemon zest, crushed limestone, and white blossoms. Medium-to-full-bodied and intensely vibrant, it balances rich orchard fruit with electric mineral acidity, finishing remarkably long, saline, and aristocratic.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay harvested from "Les Genevrières," widely regarded alongside Perrières as the most complete and aristocratic Premier Cru climat of Meursault.
  • Grown on high-slope, rocky Jurassic limestone soils with thin topsoil, endowing the wine with signature floral perfume, taut tension, and mineral cut.
  • Crafted by David Moret, the celebrated Beaune-based boutique micro-négociant renowned for his artisanal precision and mastery of Côte de Beaune white terroirs.
  • Aged for approximately 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels (around 30–35% new oak) followed by stainless steel settling to harmonize oak tannins while preserving vibrant primary acidity.
  • From the expressive, finely balanced 2023 Burgundy harvest; offers breathtaking immediate clarity with the concentration and structure to develop through 2035+.

Tasting Notes

Bright, luminous pale gold with shimmering green glints, it reveals a refined bouquet of fresh white peach, crisp Granny Smith apple, and Meyer lemon zest, layered with white acacia flowers, gunflint, crushed chalk, and faint hints of toasted hazelnut. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, crystalline, and tensile, balancing concentrated orchard fruit against a spine of razor-sharp limestone acidity, concluding on a persistent, mouth-watering, and distinctly saline finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 11–13°C in standard white Burgundy or universal stemware.
  • Decanting: Best enjoyed with 20 to 30 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its tight mineral core and floral perfume to expand fully. Optimal drinking window now through 2035+.
