From De Bortoli Wines, Australia's esteemed family-owned producer in the Riverina region of New South Wales, the Black Noble Barrel Aged 10 Years Old NV is an extraordinary 100% Semillon fortified wine crafted from botrytis-affected grapes sourced from premium, sustainably farmed vineyards on fertile alluvial soils. Originally conceived in the 1930s but perfected since 1982, small parcels destined for Noble One are fortified with brandy spirit and aged in a solera system of old oak barrels for an average of 10 years, building extraordinary concentration and rancio complexity. This meticulous process yields a deep tawny fortified wine with olive green hues and profound, viscous elegance.

Tasting Notes A rich, opulent fortified wine with intense raisin and mocha depth, reflecting De Bortoli's barrel-aging mastery. The nose reveals luscious toffee, roasted coffee, raisins, mandarin peel, and hints of caramel and dried dates. On the palate, it is full-bodied and seductive, with concentrated sweetness, balanced acidity, integrated oak, and flavors of rich raisin, dried stone fruit, mocha, and spice, leading to a long, lingering finish of aged complexity.

Awards and Accolades 92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Made from fortified botrytis Sémillon that's then aged in barrels for ten years, De Bortoli's NV Black Noble isn't quite black—more of a dark russet brown fading to amber at the rim. Strong espresso aromas accent dried figs and dates on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is a bit walnutty. There's still a trace of the orange marmalade notes that must've been prominent prior to aging, bringing life and lift to the long finish."

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with blue cheeses, chocolate desserts, or nuts. Enjoy now through 2040, during which it will develop deeper rancio and nutty nuances.
