From De Bortoli Wines, Australia's esteemed family-owned producer in the Riverina region of New South Wales, the Deen Botrytis Semillon 2018 is an opulent 100% Semillon crafted from botrytis-affected grapes hand-harvested from premium, sustainably farmed vineyards on fertile alluvial soils. The noble rot concentrates flavors, with gentle pressing and fermentation in temperature-controlled conditions, followed by aging in French oak barrels to integrate complexity and balance. This dedication to tradition yields a deep golden dessert wine with radiant viscosity and enduring elegance.
Tasting Notes A luscious, honeyed dessert wine with apricot and citrus vibrancy, reflecting Riverina's botrytis mastery. The nose reveals apricot, cumquat, vanilla, dried pear, fruit peel, and ginger, with hints of honeyed peach and candied orange. On the palate, it is full-bodied and seductive, with generous sweetness, uplifting acidity, subtle oak integration, and flavors of stone fruits, citrus zest, and spice, leading to a lingering, richly textured finish.
Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 15-30 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with blue cheeses, fruit tarts, or caramel desserts. Enjoy now through 2035, during which it will develop deeper nutty and toffee nuances.
