From Dog Point Vineyard in New Zealand’s Marlborough region, the Pinot Noir 2020 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from six clones on low-yielding, organically farmed vines (planted since 1983) on clay hill slopes in the Southern Valleys subregion, yielding 35 hl/ha and imparting exceptional depth and vibrancy. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2020 vintage—characterized by even ripening yielding concentrated yet elegant fruit—undergo 70% destemming with 30% whole-bunch inclusion, fermented in small stainless steel open-top fermenters with indigenous yeasts over three weeks, followed by 18 months' aging in French oak barrels (30% new) to enhance structure and finesse. As New Zealand's largest certified organic vineyard and a family-owned estate since 2002, this production yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and remarkable poise.

Tasting Notes An elegant, perfumed red with vibrant dark berries and floral spice, reflecting Marlborough's clay hillside terroir. The nose reveals dark plum, black cherry, violets, rose, and hints of baking spices and dried herbs. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and velvety, with fine boned tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of blueberry, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco, and earth, leading to a long, light-footed finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2020 Pinot Noir earned 91 points from Wine Spectator for its plush expressiveness and velvety tannins.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted duck, venison, lamb, or mushroom dishes. Enjoy now through 2035, during which it will develop enhanced earthy and truffle nuances.
