Terroir, History & Acclaim
Critical Recognition:
Jasper Morris MW 90-91 pts
- 92-94 Points ★★★★☆ - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): Mostly Servoisine and Cellier aux Moines, with the other two 1ers Crus also included. A bright and vigorous purple, showing the oak a touch more, with 45% new wood. A wine which makes a statement and which also goes really well in restaurants, I am told. Purists might disagree and in fact I would probably take Servoisine if young and Cellier aux Moines if older. But this works very well, has a broad base with wood tannins adding support. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Sep 2025.
- The Synergy of L'Empreinte: "L'Empreinte" (meaning "The Impression") is a special Premier Cru cuvée crafted by combining fruit from Joblot's finest single vineyards: Celliers aux Moines, Servoisine, and Bois Chevaux. This blend captures the fruit depth of Celliers, the structure of Servoisine, and the aromatic finesse of Bois Chevaux in a single bottle.
- Masterful Winemaking by Domaine Joblot: Regarded as the premier quality producer of Givry, Domaine Joblot practices meticulous vineyard care, hand harvesting, and parcel-by-parcel vinification before aging in fine French oak. Their L'Empreinte represents the quintessential expression of the entire domain's terroir.
Highlights
- 100% Pinot Noir harvested from a blend of top Premier Cru estate vineyards in Givry, Côte Chalonnaise.
- A radiant 2024 release packed with black raspberry, red cherry, floral violet, and crushed limestone minerality.
- Crafted by Domaine Joblot, offering 10 to 12+ years of cellar potential.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Vibrant ruby-red with brilliant crimson highlights at the rim.
- Nose: Fragrant, complex, and inviting. It opens with aromas of fresh black raspberries, red cherries, and wild strawberries, complemented by floral violets, crushed limestone, and subtle oak spice.
- Palate: Dry, medium-bodied, and beautifully balanced. The entry delivers a silky wave of red berry sap that glides across fine-grained tannins, supported by fresh acidity and a long, precise mineral finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve slightly cool at 14–16°C to highlight its bright fruit purity and floral aromatics.
- Decanting: A brief 20-to-30 minute decant helps open its layers. Best enjoyed now through 2036+.
- Western Pairing: Roast duck breast with berry reduction, pan-seared pork loin, rack of lamb, or wild mushroom tart.
- Asian Pairing: Peking duck, Char Siu (barbecue pork), Taiwanese braised pork, or steamed soy-sauce chicken.
