Dark Berries, Crushed Chalk, Exuberant Spice, and Premier Cru Vosne Depth

The 2024 Domaine Arnaud et Sophie Sirugue-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Reignots" is a striking, deeply complex, and powerful Pinot Noir from one of the most elite hillside vineyards in the Côte de Nuits. Situated directly above La Romanée and adjacent to Les Malconsorts, Aux Reignots yields wines of rare intensity and structural grip. Intensely fragrant aromas of dark red cherries, wild blackberries, crushed chalk, and fine oriental spices lead into a structured, medium-to-full-bodied palate. Framed by persistent mineral tension, refined tannins, and a long, resonating finish, it is a magnificent expression of grand-cru-caliber terroir.

Terroir, History & Acclaim

Critical Recognition:
Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) 92–95 pts
  • 92–95 Points - Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy): One barrel, separated out for the first time in 2024, lots of whole bunch (70%) in a new barrel. Mid crimson, no sign of the stems on the nose, a gorgeous ripe cherry fruit yet fresh. And indeed, with floral top notes. Slightly greater intensity than the Petits Monts and able to live up to its new wood. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2025 by Jasper Morris MW.
  • The "Aux Reignots" Terroir: Perched high on the slope directly above the grand crus La Romanée and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Aux Reignots features thin, stony, active limestone soils. This high-altitude exposure delivers a powerful combination of intense concentration, striking chalky minerality, and remarkable longevity.
  • Domaine Craftsmanship: Hand-crafted by Arnaud Sirugue and Sophie Noëllat, utilizing meticulous parcel management and careful whole-berry handling. The winemaking is tailored to harness the immense natural structure of Reignots while preserving its soaring, fragrant aromatic profile.

Highlights

  • 100% Pinot Noir from the premier cru monopole-caliber site "Aux Reignots" in Vosne-Romanée.
  • Awarded a stellar **92–95 points** by Jasper Morris (*Inside Burgundy*).
  • A structured, profound 2024 vintage built for serious cellaring over 12 to 20+ years.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep, brilliant ruby-purple with a dark core.
  • Nose: Complex, intense, and mineral-driven. It unfurls with aromas of dark cherries, blackberry coulis, and crushed chalk, layered with hints of violet, damp earth, and subtle exotic spices.
  • Palate: Dry, medium-to-full-bodied, and tightly coiled. The palate boasts a powerful core of dark fruit extract backed by firm, chalky, fine-grained tannins and vibrant, tension-filled acidity that drives an exceptionally long, savory finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve at 16–18°C in large Burgundy stems to allow its profound structure and layered aromatics to evolve.
  • Decanting: Highly recommended. Decant for 1.5 to 2 hours if opening young. Best enjoyed from 2031 through 2045+.
  • Western Pairing: Roast venison, pan-seared duck breast with truffle jus, beef tenderloin, or aged Comté cheese.
  • Asian Pairing: Peking duck, slow-braised beef short ribs (Galbi-jim), or rich mushroom-infused dishes.
