Critical Recognition
-
89 - 91 Points (Outstanding Top value) - Allen Meadows (Burghound): An exceptionally pretty, cool and airy nose presents mostly aromas of various red berries and subtle exotic tea wisps. The strikingly refined, if not particularly concentrated, flavors possess a lacy, even lilting, mouthfeel that carries over to the youthfully austere, balanced and persistent finish. This won't wow you with its size or weight but it is very Chambollesque.
Highlights
- 100% Pinot Noir sourced from carefully tended parcels situated across the village appellation of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte de Nuits.
- Planted on shallow, highly fractured Jurassic limestone and stony red-clay soils that yield Chambolle's hallmark lace-like texture, floral perfume, and refined minerality.
- Produced by Domaine Glantenay, blending generations of familial viticultural savoir-faire with minimal-intervention winemaking to showcase pure terroir transparency.
- Aged for approximately 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels (around 20–25% new oak) to gently polish the tannins while safeguarding high-toned fruit purity.
- From the balanced, generous 2023 Burgundy harvest; offers enticing immediate charm with the balance and composure to cellar gracefully through 2033+.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant ruby with vivid violet reflections, it opens with an alluring bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and wild strawberries, accented by crushed violets, dried rose petals, and subtle baking spices. The palate is medium-bodied, silky, and seamless, presenting juicy red berry fruit supported by fine-grained tannins and refreshing limestone acidity, concluding on a clean, lingering, and delicately savory finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 14–16°C in generous Burgundy stemware.
- Decanting: Best enjoyed with 20 to 30 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its floral perfume and red fruit layers to unfurl; pairs beautifully with roasted duck breast, veal tenderloin, grilled quail, or mild semi-firm cheeses. Optimal drinking window now through 2033+.
