Critical Recognition
- 90 Points - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): ight lemon colour, no great distinction to the nose. The palate fleshes out well with some lemon scented white fruit, relative discretion, still a bit anonymous Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Oct 2024 by Jasper Morris MW.
Highlights
- 100% Chardonnay crafted from "Les Santenots," a prestigious Premier Cru climat located on the border of Meursault and Volnay, renowned primarily for reds, making white bottlings highly prized and rare.
- Planted on deep, red clay-limestone soils over hard Bathonian limestone, imparting generous breadth, rich stone fruit depth, and firm mineral drive.
- Produced by Domaine Glantenay, the esteemed Volnay-based family estate combining multi-generational viticultural heritage with refined, precise cellar craftsmanship.
- Aged for approximately 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels (around 20–25% new oak) to develop texture and integrate subtle spice while preserving vibrant fruit clarity.
- From the expressive, generous 2023 Burgundy harvest; offers immediate drinking pleasure alongside the structural depth to age gracefully through 2034+.
Tasting Notes
Pale golden straw with shimmering green glints, it opens with seductive aromas of ripe yellow peach, poached pear, and Meyer lemon zest, interwoven with hawthorn blossom, crushed limestone, and subtle toasted hazelnut. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, velvety, and expansive, carrying concentrated stone fruit across an energetic spine of limestone acidity, concluding on a persistent, savory, and mouth-watering saline finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 11–13°C in standard white Burgundy stemware.
- Decanting: Best enjoyed with 20 to 30 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its rich texture, floral aromatics, and subtle oak spice to expand fully. Optimal drinking window now through 2034+.
