Critical Recognition
- 90 Points - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): Switched colours to replant in white 2020 and 2018. Pale colour, and while the nose doesn’t show great power it does have character. Then the palate broadens out very nicely at the front, and becomes clean and crisp behind, while retaining its fruit all the way through. Quite good length for such young vines. I can see this becoming fuller and grander as the vines age, but it works very well now. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2023 by Jasper Morris MW.
Highlights
- 100% Chardonnay sourced from "Les Champs Fulliot," universally recognized as Monthélie's finest Premier Cru climat, directly adjoining Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru and Meursault Les Casse-Têtes.
- Planted on steep, high-elevation slopes of fractured Oxfordian limestone and stony marl soils, yielding high-toned aromatics, vibrant acidity, and chiseled mineral drive.
- Produced by Domaine Glantenay, the esteemed Volnay-based family estate applying their meticulous, low-intervention approach to this exceedingly rare white parcel.
- Aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels (around 15–20% new oak) followed by stainless steel settling to harmonize oak framing while protecting crisp primary fruit.
- From the warm, concentrated, yet fresh 2022 Burgundy harvest; offers enticing immediate appeal alongside the structure to cellar comfortably through 2032+.
Tasting Notes
Pale, crystalline lemon-gold with bright greenish tints, it opens with pure, energetic aromas of Granny Smith apple, white peach, and lemon zest, interwoven with hawthorn blossoms, crushed limestone, and a faint hint of toasted almond. The palate is medium-bodied, linear, and tensile, carrying concentrated citrus and stone fruit across an electric spine of limestone acidity, finishing crisp, clean, and pleasantly saline.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 10–12°C in standard white Burgundy stemware.
- Decanting: Best enjoyed with 15 to 20 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass; pairs excellently with grilled sea bass, roasted poultry in cream sauce, fresh shellfish, or mild goat cheese. Optimal drinking window now through 2032+.
