Citrus Zest, White Peach, Crushed Limestone, and High-Altitude Tillets Finesse

The 2024 Domaine Raymond Dupont-Fahn Meursault "Les Tillets" is an incisive, mineral-focused Chardonnay from one of the highest, rockiest hillside lieu-dits above the village. It presents vibrant aromas of Meyer lemon, crunchy green pear, white flowers, and flinty wet stone. Medium-bodied and tensile, it pairs pure orchard fruit with chiseled limestone acidity and understated oak framing, finishing long, saline, and mouth-watering.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay harvested from "Les Tillets," a premier-level village lieu-dit perched high on the slope above the village center, renowned for lime-tree breezes and extreme mineral tension.
  • Planted on shallow, rocky soils consisting of stony limestone marl over hard Jurassic bedrock, which channels razor-like precision, floral lift, and flinty reduction.
  • Crafted by Raymond Dupont-Fahn, following his signature non-interventionist approach—early harvesting to retain vibrant natural acidity, indigenous yeasts, and very gentle cellar elevage without heavy bâtonnage.
  • Aged for approximately 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels with modest new wood usage (~15–20%), allowing the high-altitude site's chalky energy to lead the palate.
  • From the classically proportioned, energetic 2024 Burgundy harvest; displays dazzling aromatic lift today along with the structural cut to cellar gracefully through 2034+.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant, pale straw with greenish glints, it opens with high-toned, crystalline aromas of lemon zest, crisp green pear, and white peach, layered with lime blossom, crushed river stones, and a faint nuance of toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, linear, and tensile, offering pure orchard and citrus fruit driven by crisp limestone acidity and a chalky mineral core, closing on a long, mouth-watering, and distinctly saline finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve chilled at 10–12°C in standard white Burgundy stemware.
  • Decanting: Best enjoyed with 15 to 20 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its floral perfume and taut mineral core to broaden; pairs exquisitely with seared sea scallops, Dover sole meunière, roast chicken with tarragon, or goat cheeses. Optimal drinking window now through 2034+.
