(Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy Score 92) Fine clear mid yellow. Ripe fruit with the lightest touch of exoticism, but very attractive. There is an intriguing note of something like oatmeal on the palate, along with the more exotic top notes. Good finish, becoming fresher. Tested: July 2021

The name "Folatières" comes from the old French "Foletière", which means "haunted by fools". This Premier Cru whose soil is very steep offers a balanced mouth, revealing all the identity of the terroir under aromas of lemon and star fruit. Less ostentatious than its neighbours, it nevertheless offers real strength of character and a rare brilliance.
