Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir 2024 is a single-vineyard Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from the Sexton site in Gruyere, combining ripe dark berry fruit with floral perfume and a plush, structured palate. Deep crimson-ruby in color, it shows blackberry, raspberry, and rose notes with generous texture and fine, ripe tannins.

The Sexton Vineyard, planted in the late 1990s on the steep north-facing slopes of the Warramate Ranges at the heart of the Yarra Valley, provides low-yielding Pinot Noir with concentration and natural acidity. The 2024 Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir is vinified with a minimalist approach typical of Giant Steps, using indigenous yeasts, gentle extraction, and gravity flow; for this vintage the fruit was 100% destemmed and fermented in open-top vessels before maturation in French oak, producing a 13.5% alcohol wine that is the richest and most immediately generous of the single-vineyard Pinot releases.

Tasting Notes
The 2024 Sexton shows deep crimson-ruby color and is described as incredibly perfumed, with lifted aromas of apples, rose petals, cherry, and blood plum, alongside darker raspberry and blackcurrant pastille notes with a touch of rose bush. On the palate it is juicy and fleshy with ripe, plush tannins that are quite grippy yet fine, giving a more structural feel than the other Giant Steps single-vineyard Pinots in 2024, and finishing with mouth-filling dark fruits and a firm but polished frame.

Serving and Cellaring
Serve at 14–16°C in a Burgundy glass; a 30–45 minute decant will help soften the tannins and open the perfume in youth. Best enjoyed from 2026–2032, when the firm structure should resolve into more savoury complexity; pair with roast duck, lamb, game birds, or mushroom dishes that complement its dark fruit and grip.
