From Viña Concha y Toro in Chile's Maipo Valley, the Gravas del Maipo Syrah 2019 is a refined 100% Syrah sourced from the Quinta de Maipo Vineyard on the southern bank of the Maipo River at the foot of the Andes, featuring gravelly alluvial soils to two meters deep that deliver rounded, complex tannins. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2019 vintage—marked by warm days and cool nights yielding concentrated yet vibrant fruit—undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by 14 months' aging in French oak barrels (26% new) to enhance structure and elegance. Committed to sustainable viticulture, this production yields a deep ruby wine with vibrant intensity and masterful poise.

Tasting Notes An elegant, intense red with blue fruit and spicy depth, reflecting Maipo Valley's gravelly alluvial terroir. The nose reveals blue fruit, slate, black tea, violets, and black licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with very intense flavors of blueberries, cloves, hints of black pepper, and a spicy finish with fresh thyme.

Awards and Accolades The 2019 Gravas del Maipo Syrah earned 95 points from James Suckling for its stylish intensity and well-thought-out gravely soils expression.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 45-60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with grilled lamb, smoked meats, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater leather and earthy complexity over time.
