Terroir & Domaine Craft
- The "La Croix Rameau" Terroir: This incredibly rare Premier Cru vineyard spans just 0.60 hectares and is nestled directly against the walls of the iconic Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru. Domaine Jacques Cacheux is the principal owner of this historic site. Its deep, limestone-rich clay soils produce Pinot Noir of immense aromatic complexity, fusing power with the signature floral elegance that defines Vosne-Romanée.
- Voluptuous Winemaking Style: Patrice Cacheux is celebrated for a rich, modern, and hedonistic approach to Burgundy. The grapes are 100% destemmed to ensure silky tannins and unhindered fruit purity. The wine is then matured in a very high proportion of new French oak barrels (often 100% for this top tier), lending it a polished, luxurious texture and exotic spice notes that integrate flawlessly with cellar aging.

Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Deep, luminous ruby-purple with a bright magenta rim.
- Nose: Intensely aromatic and seductive. It opens with luxurious notes of black cherry, ripe raspberry, and plum liqueur, interwoven with crushed violets, Asian spice, sandalwood, and toasted vanilla.
- Palate: Dry, medium-to-full-bodied, and enveloping. The entry is voluptuous and sweet-fruited, gliding across the palate with a velvet-like texture. Fine, polished tannins and vibrant natural acidity provide seamless structure, driving into a long, spicy, and elegantly perfumed finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve at 15–17°C in large-bowled Burgundy glasses to allow the oak and intense aromatics to harmonize.
- Decanting: A 1-to-2 hour decant is highly recommended if opening in its youth to allow the structure to soften. Best enjoyed from 2028 through 2045+.
- Western Pairing: Roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, seared filet mignon with truffle jus, wild mushroom risotto, or roasted guinea fowl.
- Asian Pairing: Peking duck, soy-sauce braised pork belly, Cantonese roast goose, or tender Mongolian beef.
