Critical Recognition
- 89–91 Points - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): Mid crimson purple. Delicious fruit with Nuits style energy. One tank was 40% whole bunches and one 100%. Overall, 50% whole bunch vinification and 25% new oak. Dark cherries here, with good structure behind, and fine length. Still sitting quietly at the moment but the wine has all that is needed to make a really fine example. The whole bunch pepper just shows at the back of the palate. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted Oct 2023 by Jasper Morris MW.
Highlights
- 100% Pinot Noir harvested from old-vine plots situated in the northern communes of the Côte de Nuits (notably Comblanchien/Corgoloin and Fixin borders).
- Planted on classic Bajocian limestone and stony clay soils, providing the authentic Côte de Nuits structure, dark berry fruit, and earthy mineral drive.
- Crafted by micro-négociant Jane Eyre utilizing a non-interventionist approach: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, restrained extraction, and gentle whole-cluster inclusion to champion aromatic lift and pure texture.
- Aged for approximately 12 to 14 months in fine French oak barrels with modest new wood (~15–20%) to build textural refinement while preserving terroir transparency.
- From the solar and generously ripe 2022 Burgundy harvest; combines ripe fruit density with wonderful freshness, drinking beautifully now through 2032+.
Tasting Notes
Bright, translucent ruby with crimson highlights, it opens with an expressive bouquet of wild black cherries, red currants, and wild strawberries, accompanied by crushed violets, dried rose petals, sous-bois, and a hint of cracked black pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, linear, and sinuous, delivering succulent dark berry fruit over powdery, fine-grained tannins and crisp limestone acidity, concluding on a clean, savory, and mineral-etched finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve cellar-cool at 14–16°C in Burgundy balloon stemware.
- Decanting: Best enjoyed with 15 to 25 minutes of gentle aeration in the glass to allow its floral aromatics and dark berry core to expand; pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, pan-seared duck breast, charcuterie, or young Comté. Optimal drinking window now through 2032+.
