(Allen Meadows' Burghound Score 92) Moderate wood sets off the super fresh, cool and admirably pure aromas of citrus, floral, pear liqueur, sea breeze and mineral reduction scents. Like several wines in the range I very much like the lovely texture of the energetic medium weight flavors that also possess fine concentration if not the same degree of minerality on the lingering finish where a hint of bitter lemon appears. This too will need a few years of bottle age such that better depth can develop and the wood treatment can more completely integrate.

Grenouilles is the smallest of the seven official grand cru Chablis climats. It is located on the right bank of the Serein in the commune of Chablis, between the Chablis Grand Crus Vaudésir and Valmur. South-west exposure.

Cold settling before fermentation. Both yeast and malolactic fermentations in tanks and barrels. 14 months on fine lees, in tanks and barrels.

Pale gold in colour, a limpid and brilliant wine. Fine, fresh and elegant on opening, lightly oaked with notes of white flowers. Becomes more intense on aeration with a fine mineral freshness. Long-lasting. Full and complex in the mouth with remarkable volume and a palette of dried and ripe fruits. The texture has great finesse. Long finish still to come. Château Grenouilles with great potential.
