Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay: Sourced from the Maconnais (Pouilly-Vinzelles) but declassified to Vin de France due to its sweet, late-harvest profile.
  • Terroir: Clay and limestone soils with very high red iron oxide on Bajocian limestone, situated on the highest and stoniest part of the famed 'Les Quarts' vineyard.
  • Winemaking: Biodynamically farmed (Demeter) desiccated grapes (passerillés) are hand-picked late. Fermented with 100% indigenous yeasts and zero added sulfur (the 'Zen' method).
  • Elevage: Matured for 18 months in quartauts (traditional small 57-liter oak barrels) to slowly concentrate flavors without imparting strong new oak character.
  • Vintage Profile: The 2017 yielded a rare micro-cuvée with roughly 62 g/L of residual sugar, perfectly marrying luscious natural sweetness with the vintage's bright tension.

Tasting Notes

Pouring a rich golden hue, the wine bursts from the glass with intense aromas of candied citrus, dried figs, and honeyed quince jelly. On the palate, its unctuous, highly concentrated sweetness is brilliantly counterbalanced by a racy, electric acidity. The finish is exceptionally long and pure, leaving lingering impressions of baked orchard fruits, white flowers, and crystalline minerality without any cloying heaviness.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve well-chilled at 48-52°F (9-11°C) in a white wine or dessert glass to focus the intense, sweet aromatics.
  • Decanting: No decanting required. Enjoy straight from the half-bottle alongside blue cheeses (like Roquefort), fruit tarts, or foie gras. The drinking window extends well into the 2030s.
