Terroir, History & Acclaim
- 92 Points - James Suckling: Bright and expressive with aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, struck match, lime leaves, margarita and sherbet. The palate is tightly wound with electric, nervy acidity that leads into a mineral, mouthwatering finish. Ready to go now but will do well with time in bottle. Great fruit and length from old vines planted in 1977 and 1978. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
- 94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: The vines for this 2025 Art Series Riesling were planted in 1976, and it remains one of the very few Rieslings from Margaret River. It's always fleshy and herbal and a little exotic, but equally, it is saline, fresh and mineral, and the finish is long and chalky. I like this wine, always have. Sealed under screw cap.
- Southern Margaret River Terroir: Sourced from mature estate vines planted in Margaret River, where well-drained, gravelly sandy loam over clay creates a naturally low-yielding habitat. Strong maritime breezes from both the Indian and Southern Oceans moderate summer temperatures, enabling slow, prolonged flavor development while locking in remarkable natural acidity and low pH.
- Art Series Heritage & Pure Stainless Elevage: As part of Leeuwin Estate’s premier "Art Series" range (featuring original artworks by Australian contemporary artists on the label), the winemaking philosophy is strictly protective. Hand-picked at night, gently whole-bunch and cold-pressed, and fermented solely with neutral yeasts in stainless steel to showcase unvarnished varietal clarity and stony mineral energy without wood maturation.
Highlights
- 100% dry Riesling representing Leeuwin Estate's flagship "Art Series" tier.
- Crafted strictly in stainless steel with zero oak to protect razor-sharp citrus purity.
- A vibrant, crystalline 2025 release; brilliant now and capable of cellaring 15+ years through 2040+.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw with luminous emerald tints, it opens with pure, fragrant aromas of freshly squeezed kaffir lime, lemon blossom, and crisp granny smith apple, underpinned by notes of wet river stones, lemongrass, and sea spray. The palate is light-to-medium-bodied, straight, and tensile, carrying concentrated citrus juice along an electric spine of natural acidity, finishing with intense focus, chalky grip, and a long, savory mineral drive.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve chilled at 8–10°C in standard Riesling or white wine stemware.
- Decanting: Not required; enjoy immediately for its primary citrus energy, or cellar through 2040+ to observe classic tertiary notes of toast, beeswax, and kerosene develop.
