Crafted by Maison Louis Jadot, a renowned Burgundy house founded in 1859, the 2023 Meursault Village is a pure Chardonnay sourced from multiple vineyard sites across the Meursault appellation in the Côte de Beaune, featuring chalky limestone and white marl soils that impart texture and minerality. This cuvée, one of Jadot’s largest at approximately 250 barrels, is produced from hand-harvested grapes, gently pressed and fermented in oak barrels (a mix of 228-liter pièces, foudres, and 500-liter barrels, with reduced new oak usage) without artificial temperature control. Malolactic fermentation is carefully managed to maintain vibrancy, and the wine ages for 12-15 months in barrel to integrate complexity. This sustainable approach, reflecting Jadot’s third year of organic conversion, captures the 2023 vintage’s textural richness and generous fruit, resulting in a wine that balances Meursault’s opulent character with lively freshness.

Tasting Notes

This Meursault presents a pale gold hue with aromas of citrus peel, white flowers, and toasted hazelnut, accented by hints of brioche and wet stone. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied, offering flavors of ripe lemon, green apple, and subtle almond, supported by bright acidity, a creamy texture, and a long, elegant finish with faint mineral undertones.

Awards and Accolades

The 2023 Louis Jadot Meursault Village earned 87-89 points from Burghound, with Allen Meadows noting its good freshness, citrus-infused flavors, and sappy, balanced finish, describing it as an accessible wine suitable for early enjoyment.

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at 10-12°C after brief chilling to enhance its aromatic profile. Enjoy now for its charming, youthful character or cellar until 2030 to develop deeper honeyed and nutty complexities. A quintessential expression of Meursault’s village-level elegance.
