From Nicolas-Jay in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the Affinites Chardonnay 2019 is a refined 100% Chardonnay sourced from the high-elevation portions of the Bishop Creek estate vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton AVA and a cool site in the Eola-Amity Hills on sedimentary and volcanic soils that capture the region's cool continental climate for vibrancy and finesse. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2019 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding lighter yet expressive fruit—undergo spontaneous native yeast fermentation in barrel, unfiltered and lightly fined, followed by 13 months' élevage in 25% new French oak to enhance structure without overpowering the fruit. Founded in 2013 by Jean-Nicolas Méo and Jay Boberg, this production emphasizes organic farming and Burgundian techniques, yielding a delicately straw-colored wine with green highlights and poised intensity.

Tasting Notes A stylish, refined Willamette Valley Chardonnay bursting with lemon verbena, white flowers, and citrusy perfume, swinging toward orange zest and Galia melon with tangerines, white stone minerality, and crisp peach flavors that elongate into a long, textured finish. The nose reveals tart citrus, lime peel, and dried earth with subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with bright acidity, fine texture, and flavors of citrus pith, pear skin, and chalky minerality, leading to a long, graceful finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2019 Affinites Chardonnay earned 92 points from James Suckling for its stylish, refined, and long profile with stunning detail and persistence.
