From Nicolas-Jay in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the Bishop Creek Pinot Noir 2016 is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced exclusively from the estate's biodynamic Bishop Creek Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA on sedimentary and volcanic soils that capture the region's cool continental climate for vibrancy and finesse. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2016 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo destemming and fermentation in open-top fermenters with wild yeasts, followed by aging in 25-50% new François Frères French oak barrels and left unfined and unfiltered to enhance structure without overpowering the fruit. Founded in 2013 by Jean-Nicolas Méo and Jay Boberg, this single-vineyard production emphasizes organic farming and Burgundian techniques, yielding a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and poised intensity.

Tasting Notes A deeply structured yet graceful Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with a deep ruby core and rich, expansive flavors of black cherry, unfolding into notes of damp earth, Earl Grey tea, and cocoa nibs with pomegranate and red plum skin. The nose evokes black cherry, damp earth, Earl Grey tea, and cocoa nibs, followed by pomegranate and red plum skin. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of wild berry, spice, and subtle earth, leading to a long, graceful finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2016 Bishop Creek Pinot Noir earned 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck for its deeply structured yet graceful profile with rich, expansive black cherry flavors.
