Highlights
- 100% Chardonnay bearing the "Récolte du Domaine" designation, meaning the fruit is entirely estate-grown and farmed by the Domaine Olivier Leflaive team, rather than purchased from partner growers.
- Sourced from Abbaye de Morgeot, a highly regarded lieu-dit within the expansive Morgeot 1er Cru. Characterized by deeper, heavier clay-limestone soils, this terroir naturally yields Chassagne's most broad-shouldered and powerful expressions.
- Grapes are hand-harvested, gently pneumatically pressed, and undergo both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
- Following Olivier Leflaive's classic elevage protocol, the wine spends approximately 12 months in barrel (~20–25% new oak) before being racked into stainless steel vats for an additional 4 to 6 months to tighten and focus the wine prior to bottling.
- From the generous, solar 2023 vintage; perfectly balances Morgeot's inherent richness with the vintage's surprising aromatic freshness, yielding a wine of opulent early appeal and excellent aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Bright, shimmering pale gold in the glass. The bouquet is lavish and classic Chassagne, offering aromas of ripe yellow peach, baked pear, and Meyer lemon, woven together with notes of honeysuckle, toasted hazelnut, sweet butter, and subtle vanilla spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied, broad, and textural, coating the mouth with a dense core of orchard fruit. Despite its power, it is beautifully lifted by a vein of integrated limestone acidity, finishing long, savory, and kissed with a chalky mineral resonance.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve at 11–13°C in wide-bowled Montrachet or Burgundy white stemware to allow its complex, rich aromas to fully develop.
- Decanting: Can be enjoyed upon opening, but 20 to 30 minutes of air will help integrate the oak and coax out deeper floral nuances. An exceptional pairing for butter-poached lobster, roasted veal sweetbreads, poulet de Bresse in cream sauce, or mature Gruyère. Optimal drinking window 2026 through 2038.
