Elegant, Crisp, and Strongly Mineral-Driven

This single-vineyard Soave Classico stands out as a beautifully focused, unoaked white wine from one of the region's historic estates. Made from a traditional blend of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grown on volcanic soils, it delivers vibrant citrus, white peach, and a distinct flinty minerality. Aged entirely in unlined concrete tanks, it offers an elegant, textured mouthfeel balanced by a clean, mouth-watering finish.

Expert Tasting Notes & Estate Reputation

  • 94 Points – James Suckling: "The first single-vineyard created here, in the late 18th century. More black soil than in the Soave Classico. This is very good, meshing the inherent ripeness of the vintage with a mineral-infused pungency. Green apples, quince and stone fruit. Yet the feel is linear, cool and taut, with a growing trajectory of fruit sweetness across the long, energetic finish. A pithy exclamation to close. Drink or hold."

Highlights

  • Sourced entirely from the historic "Calvarino" vineyard, first purchased by the Pieropan family in 1901 and located in the heart of the Soave Classico zone.
  • Composed of 70% Garganega and 30% Trebbiano di Soave, grown on pure volcanic tufa and basalt soils that impart a strong mineral core.
  • Fermented and matured exclusively in unlined, underground cement tanks for a year on the fine lees, avoiding any oak influence to keep the fruit profile precise and pure.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Brilliant straw yellow with clear greenish highlights.
  • Nose: Fresh and highly aromatic, showing lemon zest, white peach, pear, elderflower, chamomile, and an underlying hint of wet flint.
  • Palate: Taut and well-structured. A crisp line of acidity carries pure citrus and orchard fruit across the palate, leading into a dry, textured, and distinctly saline finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve chilled at 10–12°C. Avoid ice-cold serving temperatures to fully appreciate the complex aromatics.
  • Decanting: Not strictly required, though opening it 15 minutes before pouring allows the mineral and floral notes to broaden nicely. This wine is also highly suitable for cellaring over the next 5–8 years.
  • Western Pairing: Complements fresh seafood salads, pan-seared sea bass, vegetable risottos, or goat cheese.
  • Asian & Cantonese Pairing: The wine's distinct saline profile and crisp acidity cut through delicate fats and highlight ocean sweetness. It pairs very well with 清蒸大斑魚 (Steamed Garoupa with Soy), 白灼蝦 (Poached Shrimp), or 上湯浸時蔬 (Seasonal Vegetables in Premium Broth).
