Explore more from Quintarelli

From Giuseppe Quintarelli in Italy’s Veneto, the Rosso del Bepi 2016 is a refined Corvina-dominated blend (typically 55% Corvina/Corvinone, 30% Rondinella, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and traces of Nebbiolo, Croatina, Sangiovese) sourced from hillside vineyards on calcareous-basalt soils in Negrar. Hand-harvested grapes from the cooler 2016 vintage undergo extended appassimento drying (as no Amarone was produced that year), fermentation, and prolonged aging in large Slavonian oak casks for seamless integration and remarkable energy. As the legendary estate's declassified Amarone expression, this production yields a deep ruby wine with garnet edges and captivating vibrancy.

Tasting Notes A sexy and energetic declassified Amarone that dazzles with restrained black cherries, elegant spices, incense, eucalyptus leaves, and complicating whiffs of dried roses and violets giving way to cherry sauce and dark chocolate. It turns silky with a tactile mineral core enhancing tart red berry fruits, sour orange adding cheek-puckering sourness, chalky sensations, and tapering suggestions of licorice and tangerine. Rich, complex, yet light-footed with stimulating acidity and a juicy, vibrant interpretation of Quintarelli's style.

Awards and Accolades The 2016 Rosso del Bepi earned 95 points from Eric Guido (Vinous) for its sexy, energetic profile and tactile minerality, and 94 points from James Suckling for its soft, refined attack and long, intense cherry-spice flavors.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted game, braised meats, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, gaining more savory depth over time.
