From Château de Beaucastel in France’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the 2022 is a refined blend including 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 10% Counoise, and other permitted varieties (including white grapes), sourced from the estate's vineyards on rolled pebbles, clay, sand, and limestone soils exposed to the Mistral wind.

Hand-harvested grapes undergo separate vinification for each variety, with reductive grapes (Mourvèdre, Syrah) in truncated oak barrels and oxidative grapes (Grenache) in traditional tiled cement tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and one year of aging in large oak foudres to preserve balance and complexity.

Tasting Notes A textured, layered Châteauneuf-du-Pape with cherries, raspberries, warm herbs, bay leaves, and baking spices, medium- to full-bodied with silty, melted tannins and lively energy complementing ripe red fruit and dried herbs. The nose evokes dark wild berries, dark cherries, spices, and licorice mingled with a touch of chocolate. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, deep and dense, perfectly balanced with a structured, textured, seamless mid-palate enhanced by velvety tannins and a peppery, delicate, long finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Château de Beaucastel earned 97 points from James Suckling for its textured layering, lively energy, and integrated tannins; 94 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate for its dark wild berries, spices, and velvety tannins.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 60 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted lamb, game, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2042, developing greater leather and earthy nuances over time.
