White Peaches, Citrus Blossom, Crushed Pebbles, and Southern Rhône Radiance

The 2024 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Blanc is a vibrant, biodynamically farmed white Côtes-du-Rhône from the Perrin family, grown on the iconic pebble-strewn soils facing Château de Beaucastel. Blending Viognier, Marsanne, Bourboulenc, and Clairette, it opens with pure aromas of white peaches, apricots, citrus blossom, and wild anise. Medium-bodied and silky yet driven by mouth-watering freshness and saline minerality, it concludes on a clean, lingering, and delicately nutty finish.

Terroir, History & Acclaim

Critical Recognition:
Wine Advocate 90 pts
James Suckling 93 pts
  • 90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: A blend of unknown proportions of Viognier, Marsanne and Bourboulenc, the 2024 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel Blanc offers up aromas of white fruits, herbs and flowers, followed by a moderately weighted, round and juicy palate with bright acids and a fresh finish.
  • 93 Points - James Suckling: An excellent white Cotes-du-Rhone with a wonderful balance of stone fruit, delicate tannins and lively acidity. Already so enticing and harmonious. Aromas of summer meadow and orange blossoms. A cuvee of viognier, marsanne and bourboulenc. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
  • The Coudoulet Terroir: Located just across the road from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape boundary at Château de Beaucastel. The soil profile shares the exact same geological origin as the grand estate: marine limestone molasse covered by a thick mantle of Alpine diluvium and smooth quartzite stones (*galets roulés*), creating ideal heat retention and mineral complexity.
  • Artisanal White Rhône Assemblage: Farmed organically and biodynamically by the Perrin family. Composed of roughly 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Marsanne, 30% Viognier, and 10% Clairette, the grapes are pneumatically pressed and vinified in a combination of neutral oak barrels and temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve floral aromatics, natural tension, and site precision.

Highlights

  • A classic 4-grape white Rhône blend grown on Châteauneuf-adjacent *galets roulés* soils.
  • Produced by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel using certified organic viticulture.
  • A radiant, fresh 2024 vintage; best enjoyed in its youthful freshness through 2029+.

Tasting Notes

Bright straw-yellow with pale green reflections, it opens with fragrant aromas of fresh white peaches, apricots, and citrus blossom, intertwined with touches of wild anise, crushed river stones, and fresh hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, supple, and textured, balancing ripe stone fruit depth against an invigorating spine of natural acidity that leads to a savory, saline, and persistent finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve chilled at 10–12°C in standard white wine stems rather than narrow flutes.
  • Decanting: Decanting is not necessary; 10 to 15 minutes of glass aeration allows its floral and stone fruit perfume to fully express itself. Best through 2029.
