Castello di Ama Al Poggio IGT Toscana 2024 is a high‑altitude Tuscan Chardonnay from the Chianti Classico hills, combining bright citrus‑orchard fruit with floral and mineral tension rather than overt richness. Crystalline yellow with greenish‑gold highlights, it shows pear, jasmine, citrus peel and white pepper in a soft, caressing, fresh style.

Al Poggio 2024 comes from estate Chardonnay vineyards around 500 m above sea level in Ama (Gaiole in Chianti), rooted in cool limestone soils that emphasize freshness and salinity. The wine is fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in oak casks (around 40% barrique, half new and half one‑wine) and aged on fine lees, reaching about 13% alcohol while retaining a focused, elegant profile designed to express site and vintage more than overt oak.

Tasting Notes

Crystalline yellow with brilliant golden nuances; the nose shows pear and apple with tropical touches of pineapple and banana, apricot and summer flowers, plus chalky and citrusy lift. The palate is bright, full‑bodied and focused, with good depth of fruit, lively acidity, chalky mineral grip and a long, balanced finish that remains fruity, fresh and subtly creamy.

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at 10–12 °C in a Chardonnay glass. It is already enjoyable but will blossom further with short‑ to mid‑term aging; ideal drinking is 2025–2029 for immediate pleasure and up to around 2035 for additional complexity. It pairs well with Mediterranean seafood, grilled prawns and scallops, baked white fish, lemon‑herb chicken, and vegetable dishes with asparagus or fennel, as well as soft to semi‑aged cheeses.
