From Champagne Drappier in the village of Urville within the Aube subregion of Champagne, the Coteaux Champenois Urville Rouge NV is a refined 100% Pinot Noir sourced from the estate’s 75 hectares of organically farmed vineyards on Kimmeridgian limestone soils that impart exceptional freshness and mineral depth. Hand-harvested grapes from select parcels undergo traditional red vinification—destemming, cold soak, fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, and maturation in French oak barrels for 12-18 months—to produce a still red wine from the Champagne region. As one of the few producers of Coteaux Champenois rouge, Drappier crafts this rare expression with low-intervention and terroir focus, yielding a deep ruby wine with vibrant intensity and graceful structure.

Tasting Notes An elegant, structured red with ripe cherry and subtle earthy spice, reflecting Urville’s limestone terroir. The nose reveals blackberry, dark cherry, violet, and hints of graphite, underbrush, and smoked herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and poised, with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of red plum, licorice, and chalky minerality, leading to a long, precise finish.

Awards and Accolades The NV Coteaux Champenois Urville Rouge earned 91 points from James Suckling for its pure fruit and refined balance.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to unfold aromas. Ideal with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater leather and earthy complexity over time.
