M. Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Le Clos Sélections Parcellaires Rouge 2021

From Maison M. Chapoutier in Tournon, Northern Rhône, the Saint-Joseph Le Clos 2021 is a refined Syrah from a steep, east-facing vineyard on granitic soils. Sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards with 19-year-old vines, it’s hand-harvested and aged 20 months in French oak barrels (25% new), offering a garnet black hue with vibrant complexity.

Tasting Notes

A powerful, elegant red with rich fruit and mineral finesse, showcasing Saint-Joseph’s terroir.
The nose reveals blackberry, cherry, and cassis, with hints of graphite, violets, and exotic spices. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and suave, with fine, silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, pepper, and a long, mineral finish.

Food Pairings

Pair this red with Western dishes like grilled steak or lamb chops to highlight its bold fruit and spice. For Chinese cuisine, try 紅燒牛肉, 烤鴨, 孜然羊肉, 醬燒排骨, 香辣牛柳, or 滷牛腱 to complement its full body and peppery notes. Ideal for hearty dinners or festive occasions.

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at 16°C with one hour of decanting to enhance aromas. Enjoy now or cellar until 2036 for added complexity. Explore our Saint-Joseph collection for more Syrah classics.
