Chêne Bleu Abelard 2014

From Chêne Bleu’s Domaine de la Verrière in Crestet, Vaucluse, the Abelard 2014 is a refined blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. Sourced from organic vineyards at 530–550 meters near Mont Ventoux on clay-limestone soils, it’s hand-harvested and aged 18 months in French oak barrels, offering a deep ruby hue with vibrant complexity.

Tasting Notes

A robust, elegant red with rich dark fruit and spicy depth, showcasing Vaucluse’s terroir.
The nose reveals blackberry, red plum, and black cherry, with hints of spice, licorice, and garrigue. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and structured, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, allspice, and a long, earthy finish.

Food Pairings

Pair this red with Western dishes like roasted lamb or pasta Bolognese to highlight its fruit and spice. For Chinese cuisine, try 京醬肉絲, 白切雞, 乾炒牛河, 廣東燒肉, 鹽焗雞, or 燒鵝 to complement its silky texture and spicy notes. Ideal for refined dinners or festive occasions.

Serving and Cellaring

Serve at 16°C with one hour of decanting to enhance aromas. Enjoy now or cellar until 2028 for added complexity. Explore our Vaucluse collection for more Grenache-Syrah classics.
