Bodyguard Red Blend 2022 exemplifies Daou's innovative approach, led by Chief Winemaker Daniel Daou with a Petit Verdot-Petite Sirah core that achieves harmony from Paso Robles' limestone-rich sites. Hand-harvested grapes from sustainable vineyards undergo native yeast fermentation and traditional Bordeaux techniques, followed by 10 months in 50% new French oak to integrate structure and subtle vanilla-cedar nuances. The deep garnet result balances bold fruit with finesse, showcasing the region's warm-climate ripeness and cool-breeze freshness.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Ripe plum, berry compote, blackberry and clove, with hints of pine, cedar, vanilla, toasted pecan, baked blackberry and cardamom.

  • Palate: Juicy and velvety with layers of mixed berry, blueberry, graphite, dark chocolate, blackberry, espresso bean and pepper, plus integrated medium acidity.

  • Finish: Dry, sustained and silky with bright tannins, hazelnut, cedar and lingering fruit-spice balance.
