Crisp White Peach, Lemon Blossom, and Rare Givry White Burgundy Precision

The 2024 Domaine Joblot Givry 1er Cru "Mademoiselle" Blanc is a remarkably rare, crystalline, and silky white Burgundy from the master estate of the Côte Chalonnaise. Sourced from high-altitude, limestone-rich Premier Cru slopes, this pure Chardonnay cuvée opens with vibrant aromas of crisp white peach, lemon zest, white floral blossoms, and crushed chalk. The palate is medium-bodied, satiny, and precise, striking a seamless balance between ripe orchard fruit, fine oak integration, and a long, mouth-watering limestone finish.

Terroir, History & Acclaim

Critical Recognition:
Jasper Morris MW 89-91 pts
  • 91-93 Points ★★★★☆ - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): Made mostly from En Servoisine, balanced by 10% En Veau. A little more colour here. A touch of the fabled liquorice. More personality all round with a little sucrosity into the bargain. Good acid balance too, and I think I see the influence of En Veau at the finish, adding some stability. Very old vines for Servoisine (1949 for two thirds). Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Sep 2025.
  • The Rare Givry Blanc Terroir: While Givry is famous predominantly for red wine, white Givry represents less than 10% of total production. "Mademoiselle" is planted on high-altitude, steep limestone-rich slopes where active chalk soils impart exceptional freshness, floral precision, and chiseled minerality to Chardonnay.
  • Masterful Winemaking by Domaine Joblot: Helmed by Juliet Joblot, the domain applies the exact same ultra-rigorous organic standards, low yields, and hand-harvesting to their rare white holdings as they do to their famous reds, creating a Premier Cru white Burgundy that easily rivals Côte de Beaune quality.

Highlights

  • 100% Chardonnay harvested from rare Premier Cru estate vines in Givry, Côte Chalonnaise.
  • A radiant 2024 release bursting with white peach, lemon blossom, fresh hazelnut, and crushed limestone minerality.
  • Crafted by Domaine Joblot, offering 8 to 12+ years of graceful cellaring potential.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Pale straw-gold with luminous greenish reflections.
  • Nose: Fragrant, pure, and refined. It opens with aromas of crisp white peach, lemon zest, and green apple, layered with acacia flowers, fresh hazelnut, and crushed limestone chalk.
  • Palate: Dry, medium-bodied, and beautifully satiny. The entry brings a wave of orchard fruit sap that glides across a focused mid-palate, propelled by fresh limestone acidity into a clean, long, mineral-driven finish.

Serving Suggestion

  • Temperature: Serve slightly cool at 11–13°C to highlight its bright citrus aromatics and mineral texture.
  • Decanting: A short 15-to-20 minute decant or glass aeration helps uncoil its delicate layers. Best enjoyed now through 2036+.
  • Western Pairing: Seared sea scallops, pan-roasted poultry in cream sauce, sole meunière, or goat cheese salad.
  • Asian Pairing: Steamed grouper with ginger and scallions, butter-braised prawns, Cantonese dim sum, or Hainanese chicken rice.
