The iconic Monopole vineyard of Thierry Germain, with 1.8 hectares, Clos de l'Echelier is the "Grand Cru" representing the best Chenin that the Loire has to offer. The expression of this wine is all about tension, with a fine bouquet and alluring fruits. The vine is from a very poor, chalky terroir, surrounded by a wall built 300 years ago. The wine was aged in oval-shaped, 12-hectoliter vats. On the nose, it displays with raspberry, cherry, strawberry and elegent floral flavors. The wine is pure, vibrant finishes with silky tannins and spicy lift. The lingering minerality is impressive.

Manual harvest. Alcoholic fermentation in 600-liter barrels. Pneumatic pressing for 4 hours. Slow fermentation time of 3 months. Aging on fine lees for 9 months. All these operations are carried out at low temperature in an underground cellar to preserve the fruit of the wine.
