From Domaine du Pélican in France's Arbois appellation, the Grand Curoulet Savagnin 2022 is a refined 100% Savagnin sourced from a historic 5-hectare north-facing hillside plot overlooking Arbois on gray marls (50%) and colorful Triassic marls (green and red "lie de vin"), the oldest geological layers providing exceptional quality and late ripening for tension and purity. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—marked by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—are lightly crushed before pressing, with fermentation in foudres and 500L barrels (15% new oak) using indigenous yeasts, followed by 10 months' topping-up aging to prevent oxidation and enhance structure. Founded in 2012 by Guillaume d'Angerville and François Duvivier with biodynamic certification, this production yields a golden wine with brilliant reflections and remarkable verticality.

Tasting Notes A high-flying Savagnin with delicate candied fruit, dried flowers, and almond notes, offering fine minerality from gray and colorful Triassic marls, with a north-facing exposure yielding late-ripening freshness and chalky purity. The nose charms with candied citrus, dried flowers, and almond, mingling subtle pastry and spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with bright acidity, tender fleshiness, and flavors of concentrated stone fruit, citrus, and chalky minerality, leading to a long, well-balanced finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Grand Curoulet earned 91 points from RVF for its delicate complexity and minerality.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 20-30 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with shellfish, goat cheese, or herb-roasted poultry. Enjoy now through 2032, during which it will develop enhanced nutty and honeyed nuances.
